Terms
The agreement between you and us. Written to be read rather than skipped.
Last updated [DATE — set when first published]
This is a draft. It is not in force and does not yet bind anyone. Passages shown in square brackets are not yet filled in, including the contact address, and the document is awaiting review. Nobody is being asked to agree to it in this state.
Who you are agreeing with
DreamSynse is operated by [YOUR FULL LEGAL NAME], a sole trader, of [TRADING ADDRESS]. “We” and “us” mean that person; “you” means you. By creating an account you accept these terms.
You need to be at least 16 to use DreamSynse.
What this service is not
This matters more than anything else here, so it comes first.
It is not medical or psychological care. Nothing in it is a diagnosis, a treatment, or advice about your health. The explainer about sleep paralysis describes what is generally known about a common experience; it is not an assessment of you. If something about your sleep or your mind is troubling you, speak to a GP or a qualified professional.
It does not predict the future. No reading will tell you what is going to happen, and none should be read that way. If one ever appears to, that is a fault in our software, not a forecast, and we would like to hear about it.
It does not tell you what to do. We do not give advice about money, work, relationships, medicine, travel, or faith, and you should not treat anything here as though we had.
It is not a crisis service. Nobody is monitoring what you write. If you are in danger, call 999. If you are struggling, the Samaritans are free, 24 hours a day, on 116 123.
The readings are generated by a language model. They are offered as several traditions side by side precisely because none of them is authoritative, and they may be wrong, strange, or unhelpful. What you make of them is yours to decide.
Your account
Sign-in is by a link sent to your email address, so keep access to that address secure — anyone who can read your email can reach your journal. Tell us at hello@dreamsynse.com if you think someone else has got in.
One account per person, and do not share it.
What you write stays yours
You own everything you record. We claim no rights over it beyond the narrow permission we need to run the service for you: to store it, display it back to you, index it so search and patterns work, and send it to the providers named in our privacy policy when you ask for a reading or a transcript.
We do not publish it, sell it, share it, or use it to train models. There is no sharing feature, and your entries are visible to nobody but you.
Free and paid
Recording dreams, searching your archive, and exporting everything you have written are free, permanently, whether or not you ever pay us. That does not change if you cancel a subscription: your journal is yours and we will not hold it hostage to get you back.
Plus costs £4.99 a month or £39 a year, and adds all six interpretive traditions on each dream, the full patterns engine, the year in review, and unmetered voice transcription. Free accounts include 30 minutes of transcription a month.
There are limits on how many readings and transcriptions can be requested in an hour or a day. They are set far above ordinary use and exist to stop runaway automated requests, not to ration you.
Payment, renewal and cancellation
Payments are handled by Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically — monthly or annually, as you chose — until cancelled. Prices include VAT where it applies.
You can cancel at any time from your settings. There is no retention flow, no phone call, and nothing asking you to reconsider. Your subscription then runs to the end of the period you have paid for and stops.
Your 14-day right to cancel. As a consumer you normally have 14 days to change your mind about a digital service and get a refund. Because the service is available immediately, you agree when subscribing that it begins at once and acknowledge that you lose that right once it has been fully performed. In practice, if you subscribe and change your mind within 14 days, write to hello@dreamsynse.com and we will refund you — we would rather do that than keep money from someone who does not want the product.
If we change the price, we will tell you by email before it takes effect, and you can cancel before it does.
Using it reasonably
Please do not:
- try to break, overload, or get around the security of the service, or access anyone else's account;
- use automated tools to create entries or request readings in bulk;
- use the service to store material that is unlawful, or that infringes someone else's rights;
- resell the service or present its output as a professional interpretation of anyone's dreams.
We may suspend or close an account that does these things. Where we reasonably can, we will warn you first and give you the chance to export your journal.
Availability
We will try to keep the service running and your data safe, but we do not promise it will always be available or free of faults. We may change features, and we may withdraw the service — if we withdrew it, we would give reasonable notice and time to export everything you have written.
Keep your own copy of anything you would be upset to lose. The export exists for exactly that, and it is free.
Our liability
Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected by anything in these terms.
Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows: we are not liable for loss of profits, business, or opportunity, nor for any decision you take on the basis of a generated reading. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or £100.
Ending it
You can delete your account whenever you like, and everything you wrote goes with it. Export first if you want to keep it — once deleted, we cannot get it back.
We may end this agreement if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we stop offering the service.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms materially we will email you before the change takes effect. If you do not agree, you can cancel and, if you have paid for a period you will not now use, we will refund the remainder.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK you may bring proceedings in your own country's courts.
